Psychology Media Spokesperson

Dr Alissa Knight

Uniting Psychology with the Media & General Public

Research Needs a Voice

Psychologists and Researchers alike often carry out important investigations in the field of mental health to advance our understanding of mental illness, and improve ways of delivering treatment, therapy, assessments, technology, counselling, and many other services. Unfortunately, the results of this incredible work is often published in scientific peer-review journals, but never reaches the general public. With a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr Alissa Knight is passionate about bridging the gap between psychologists, researchers and the media to help our community learn more about ways to prevent and decrease mental health problems, while increasing mental functioning, wellness, and resilience.

Media Experience

Alissa has been invited to be interviewed numerous times by various Australian radio stations, including: Adelaide ABC morning news with Ali Clarke, Sydney ABC drive 702 with Richard Glover, Sydney ABC 2GB with Ben Fordman, Perth ABC 6PR882 with Peter Bell, Darwin ABC with Alice, and the Hack Sydney Triple J. Alissa has appeared in the Australian newspaper, and several online news sites. She has also been recognised internationally. New York journalist Carrie Arnold has interviewed Alissa for Cosmopolitan magazine.
Alissa was chosen to be included in the Science Media Exchange (‘Scimex’). The Australian & New Zealand Science Media Centre Inc. which is a hub for journalists seeking the most innovative science stories relevant to Australia and New Zealand.
